Medici Il Magnifico

Il Magnifico

The Medici was an Italian banking family, political dynasty and later royal house during the first half of the 15th century in Florence.

Along with other families of Italy - such as the Visconti and Sforza of Milan, they inspired the birth of the Italian Renaissance.

They had a major influence on the growth of the Italian Renaissance through their patronage of the arts and humanism.

They would pay artists commissions for major works of art.

The Medici patronage had a huge impact on the Renaissance, allowing artists to focus on their work without having to worry about money.

A significant amount of the art and architecture that was produced in Florence at the beginning of

the Renaissance was due to the Medici.

Early on they supported the painter Masaccio and helped pay the architect Brunelleschi to rebuild the Basilica of San Lorenzo. Other famous artists that the Medici supported include Michelangelo, Raphael, Donatello and Leonardo da Vinci.

The Medici also supported science: the famous scientist Galileo Galilei, who also worked as a tutor for the Medici children.

Visconti and Medici path are very similar as patron of arts. Many ideas and collections from

Visconti come from Florence history and blood. It was just a matter of time that Visconti would have dedicated one of its collection to the Medici family.

The pen is faceted with eight sides like the baptistery of Florence.

The shape is made following the rules of Divine Proportion, codified from Leonardo da Vinci under the hegemony of the Medici family.

Unique is also the material, another innovation from Visconti; Acrosilk, that is a compound of Acrylic resin and Silk fibers.

The result is a fantastic glossy and luminescent effect with the deepness of colors of the antique celluloid.

The wooden color used it is a conscious choice and a tribute to the ancient luxury materials used in the princely Medici houses.

All the metal trims are in plated Palladium.

The ring is finally chiseled with the Symbol of Florence: a lily.

On 2018 Visconti has added to the collection the version Medici Gold, which has the metal trims in a gold rosè plating.
